For the 5th consecutive year, Fameline Offshore Sailing Regatta, a two-day event, organized by the Fameline Holding Group (FHG) and the Limassol Nautical Club (LNC), concluded on the 28th & 29th of September 2019. The event received rave reviews, deemed by both participants and attendees as a remarkable success.
The two-day event comprised of a bounty of activities was a prime opportunity to encourage young athletes and guests to hone their skills, feel proud of the sailing community to which they belong, and aspire to ever-betterment, embracing the challenge of evolution. Both participants and attendees had an amazing time and opportunities to have fun and socialize. The event as a truthful expression of solidarity and togetherness, aiming to give back to the community in a meaningful way offer all its proceeds to the Charity Foundation ''Heri me Heri''.
More than 26 sailing yachts raced head to head in the 2 offshore sailing races, more than 100 children enjoyed the kid’s beach activities, and more than 1000 people enjoyed the evening BBQ beach party hosted at the Fat Fish Restaurant – LNC and followed by the live concert with the Greek pop group “Onirama” and the jazz band “The Big Band”. Further to the crème de la crème of the shipping and maritime community of the island congregated in support of the Fameline Offshore Regatta, an esteemed cohort of senior government officials also attended the event’s festivities in lending further gravitas to an already revered event.
Ms. Natasa Pilides, Deputy Minister of Shipping, Mr. Andreas Michaelides, President of the Cyprus Sport Organization and Mr. Kyriakos Xydias Mayor of Yermasogia attended the arces and awarded the young athletes and the winning teams.
In his welcoming speech on behalf of FHG Board of Directors, Mr. Stephanos Stephou, Strategic Planning Director explained: “Once again, the Fameline Offshore Sailing Regatta has served as a unifying event in the island’s sailing community. This is the 5th consecutive year where Fameline has been organizing the race and year after year we are feeling even louder the enthusiasm coming from the athletes and the Cyprus sailing community. That is why this year we are proud and privileged to announce a strategic collaboration between our Group and the Limassol Nautical Club. We envision being able to grow the competence of the Club and to increase its athletes’ level of readiness to compete in international happenings.’’
